A cascade of awards for Cantina Tollo at the Mundus Vini

October 10 2015

From Germany a cascade of medals for Cantina Tollo: the company obtained six – five gold and one silver – at the International Wine Awards, Mundus Vini, the wine competition where wines from all over the world compete, judged by a qualified international jury.Five home-grown red wines were awarded gold medals, all an expression of the ancient Montepulciano d’Abruzzo grape variety: Valle d’Oro Montepulciano d’Abruzzo PDO 2012, Cagiòlo Montepulciano d’Abruzzo PDO Riserva 2011, Montepulciano d’Abruzzo PDO Riserva 2011, Aldiano Montepulciano d’Abruzzo PDO Riserva 2011 and Colle secco Rubì Montepulciano d’Abruzzo PDO 2011. Silver medal for the home-grown white wine Valle d’Oro Trebbiano d’Abruzzo PDO 2014.

Such results confirm the international quality of Cantina Tollo wines, awarded prizes in numerous international competitions. The Montepulciano d’Abruzzo grape variety is increasingly appreciated by the market, especially in its highest expressions, such as Cagiòlo Cantina Tollo, which during the first eight months of 2015 registered a 113.8% increase in the bottles sold abroad and a 125.4% increase in turnover, compared to the same period the year before. Home-grown white wines have also done very well: in the period under scrutiny, another of the award winning wines, the Valle d’Oro Trebbiano d’Abruzzo, registered +30,99% of sold bottles and +36% of turnover, compared to the same period in 2014.
